Marie and her late husband, Gary, had learned the art of decorating on a budget during the early years of their marriage, when Gary’s service in the Air Force meant the pair moved frequently. It was during this time that Marie began working in interior designer, fabricating and marketing her own window treatments, bedding, pillows, and other décor.
The History of Flemington Decor
After Gary’s retirement from the military, the pair returned to the U.S. They landed in Flemington, where, in 1982, Marie got a job at a local fabrics store, a business known then as Flemington Fabric Decorating Center. It was located on Main Street.
A year after she was hired, Marie approached the Levines, who first opened the business in 1948, to request a raise—and was offered the opportunity to buy the business instead. Never ones to shy away from a challenge, Marie and Gary took ownership of the company in 1983.
Over the next 30 years, Flemington Fabrics would serve as a barometer of sorts, expanding and shrinking in response to the economy and its fluctuating markets—at times taking over additional space and even growing into two separate businesses, then narrowing its focus once again.
For most of those years, Marie, an entirely self-taught designer, and Gary, who engineered and installed the pair’s projects, sold furniture, soft goods, and provided upholstery and interior-design services.
When Gary passed away in 2015, Marie was determined to keep their business on course. Gary had often insisted she learn the tools and mechanics of his trade, and today, Marie keeps his legacy alive through her work.
In 2018, Marie celebrated the 70th anniversary of what is now known as Flemington Decor. She has transitioned away from retail sales to concentrates her efforts on what she does best, and today Marie provides full-service interior design to an ever-growing list of delighted clients.
Marie is very hands-on with her clients, leveraging an impressive range of knowledge and varied skill sets, which together enable her to handle many aspects of interior design herself, rather than subcontracting out various components to other service providers.
Clients come to Flemington Decor for design services for their homes and offices. Consultations on new furniture selection, updating existing furniture, interior color planning, and window treatments are our most sought after services.

My apologies for the delay in writing, but as you know I've been focused with the launch of our new bed & breakfast and it is a very busy time. The fact that you went to the trouble of going the extra mile of searching your attic for an appropriate fabic is so unexpected and appreciated! This store has so much to offer
This Main Street Flemington store is awesome. I was looking for a fabric to use as a stage skirt in our parish hall. Marie suggested a few options based on my measurements & pointed out half priced sale item. It looked good but what do I know about fabrics. I checked it with my SMEs (ladies of course). It was perfect. Marie was so helpful by explaining different ways to complete the project. This store has so much to offer for all your decorating needs. You've got to visit this establishment.
I highly recommend them
I have been a customer for almost 30 years. (Frightening to even write that number. Sigh. :)) They have helped me select beautiful fabrics (and saved me from some mistakes) and reupholstered and/or refinished chairs and recliners - 5 in total. Sometimes I make draperies myself but often they have done the work - I've lost count but likely 12 pairs of beautifully lined drapes. I highly recommend them.
Don't know what I would have done
I just don't know what I would have done without your awesome store. The curtains I bought and fabric to make curtains has transformed my B&B in Lake George, NY. The Windows and French Doors are beautiful. All my guest comment on them and I tell them where I bought them and how to find you!!! Thanks for all your help and advice.
